Welcome to Brakebills University where all your wildest magical dreams can come true! Those who pass the entrance exam will experience a world like no other filled with rigorous training and magical abilities like no other. Those who don’t? Will have their memories erased and sent back to the boring life of typical New York. Brakebills is a school of magicians, something previously thought to only be fantasy. A new year means a new slew of students ready to learn, and with a sudden surge of magical kids the university has expanded itself to accommodate larger class sizes than their previously strict 20 student classes.
Outside of Brakebills things are starting to stirr.
Hedge witches are growing stronger and stronger every day, more and more accruing as more people are realizing that magic exists. Not everyone can get into Brakebills and with a recent influx of foreign witches as well, tensions are starting to rise between gangs. While the hedge witches want to be recognized as the magical beings they are, the so called “real” magicians are realizing just how dangerous their world can be.
Portals are opening between worlds and it’s kind of scary. New realms are accessible now not only to travelers, but by ordinary means by ordinary people. Citizens of New York and beyond and starting to go missing in a vast epidemic never seen by the country, and magicians everywhere are running to find the answers. Between the new realms, a new school year, and the rising hedge witch problem, the answers are hard to come by but not impossible to find.
